About us

We listen to our customers from a variety of sectors and they all tell us the same thing: It's all about uptime

...their uptime...and their customer's uptime. That is why we have shaped our business to deliver more uptime.

We find a way to solve access challenges, to provide a wide range of solutions, and we work closely with the manufacturers to invest in the best products to make sure everyone gets home safe.

More uptime

We offer a local service to our customers through our small battery machines and Self Drive division. For customers working at projects with various phases where their access needs change, we provide a wide range of core fleet products. We offer solutions to difficult access and egress challenges with our Spider Lift range, and a top quality Truck Mount operated service for customers who are working at extreme heights or who need maximum outreach.

Closing the loop

We find a way to deliver a safe and effective service because we close the loop with our transparent systems.

24/7 Technical Support

We offer a 24/7 Freephone Technical Support Helpline so customers always have cover back at base. All our machines have a QR code system, which is a unique identifier containing the plant number as well as the Certificate of Thorough Examination, machine specifications, contract details and quick start guides.
We developed our own inhouse closed loop total service solution called SRM, which means that all our service records are recorded digitally in one central location and can be accessed by our engineers at any time, wherever they are.

NPS -Net Promoter Score

We're happy to help, and like to ask our customers how we're doing by using the Net Promoter Score (NPS) customer feedback system. Since January 2015 94% of our customers are promoters, giving us an overall score of 94.

We find a way

We have always had a history of excellence in everything we do because we were never afraid to ask the difficult questions, and we're not afraid to confront the brutal facts today. We are not just an access hire company, we are an access solutions provider.

Company history

Sometimes the best ideas are the ones right in front of us.

With nearly 40 years' experience in the access business, Height for Hire has always been a pioneer in the industry, back to when Harry Mc Ardle, Founder and Chairman, was the first buyer of the Genie Z-30/20 in 1986, the first importer of the Genie S-85 in Europe in 1995 and the first buyer of the Genie Z-135 in the British Isles. We now have 20 locations across 4 different countries: Ireland, the UK, Hungary and Slovakia.

But before there was Height for Hire, Harry ran a sludge disposal and water jetting business. It was hard, unpredictable work. Anything could happen. And one day it did.

While visiting Premier Periclase, a local industrial plant in Drogheda, Co Louth on a particularly tough day back in the early eighties , he saw his first truck mounted aerial platform.

It stopped him in his tracks. He saw how they put down the outriggers to steady the machine. He watched how quickly and easily the men were able to carry out their work on the chimneys. He saw how safely they came down and moved to their next location.

And he noticed something else. It wasn’t just about reaching a certain height. Coming back down again, safely, was just as important. We all want to get home to our families after a day’s work.

That day Harry left with two things. A sore neck from looking up. And a new business idea. The first big break came in 1982/1983 when we secured an order for 6 JLG boom lifts on the Augnish Alumina site in Limerick which had a project cost of £650m (IRE).

The company grew during the 1980s and 1990s in Ireland, when large multinational companies coming to Ireland saw the demand grow in the construction sector for large scale building projects which required safe working at height solutions.

Having originally tested the UK market with a depot in Scotland during the 90s, the company went on to roll out 4 depots in the UK during the noughties in Manchester, London, Newcastle and the UK Midlands.

Easi UpLifts opened its first Hungarian depot in Győr in 2013 to provide safe working at height solutions close to the construction of the new Audi plant. Since then it has opened depots in Budapest and Kecskemét.

The company also has a presence in Slovakia with depots in Bratislava and Košice.

Height for Hire has evolved since it’s humble beginnings, but we are still looking up to find safer and easier ways for our customers to work at heights and get home safe. The machines and technology have become more sophisticated. But the basic idea remains the same. Providing local access to safe and easy solutions when you need to work at height.

That is why we keep looking up...it helps us to look ahead!
