Powered Access Platforms: Cherry Picker
Cherrypicker or cherry picker is a generic term which covers a range of aerial platforms designed for enabling work in high places.
Also called boom lift / basket crane / man lift / access platform, a cherrypicker is comprised of a hydraulic boom with a basket or platform at the end which will hold one or more people. It may also be mounted on a vehicle for added mobility in which case it can also be referred to as vehicle-mounted or truck-mounted.
Although originally used in fruitpicking (hence the name cherrypicker) cherrypickers are now used in many types of maintenance, tree care, mining and construction work.
